In the early 1930s, Poland bought from 40 to 50 Vickers tanks of 6t. Improvements gave birth to the light tank 7 tp, which was built from 1934 to 1939. The first model, which weighed 9t, had two turrets, each housing a machine gun. He was driven by a 111ch Saurer Diesel. The next model had a Swedish turret, armed with a 37mm Bofor gun and a 7.92mm coaxial machine gun. Due to difficulties in importing Swedish turrets, this model was not built in large quantities. The final model (improved 7 TP) had a thicker armor, a redesigned turret whose rear was overhanging and a reinforced suspension. He was not put into production. The 7 TP should have been replaced by the 10TP, whose prototype was completed in 1937. It had a suspension Christie and was moved by a France 12 cyl 213 hp American, giving it a top speed of 50 km / h. Like some of the American Christies, the 10 TP could roll on its road wheels, its speed then reaching 70 km / h. The TP had the same turret as the 7TP but also had a machine gun mounted in the hull.
When the Germans invaded Poland in 1939, the Polish army owned 169 7TP tanks, 50 Vickers tanks of 6 tons, 67 light tanks Renault FT-17, dating from the Great War, 53 Renault R-35s (which were folded over the Romania, without having participated in the fighting), about 700 TK / TKS light tanks and 100 armored vehicles
Opposed to more than 3,000 German tanks, most of these machines were quickly destroyed or captured.
